Ascension lights up
The Ascension sculpture was unscathed by gale force winds which struck the region on last week, passing a major test. And the sturdy Masterton public artwork has been taken to new heights with a lighting setup that will see it illuminated every night of the year with four stationary computer-controlled lights installed by Laser Electrical around the roundabout.

Plumbing leader calls for increased investment in water sanitation
World Toilet Day often brings a smile to the face of the reader, until they realise the seriousness of the topic, and what the outcome could be if we didn’t have something that we all take for granted, the humble toilet. General Manager of New Zealand’s largest plumbing network, Scott Carr, believes that while New Zealand is not at risk of the more dramatic statistics, we are in danger of becoming complacent and not keeping up with the growing pressure on our water sanitation systems.

Last years 101 lap race was a major hit with competitors and fans alike. With 100km added to the race length, this year its a 500km battle. This has sent teams back to the drawing board to work on a strategy that will seem them have to pit three times and manage fuel differently.

Tauranga plumber marks half a century
After 49 years on the job, Tauranga plumber Ian Malcolm is calling it a day and retiring from the career he started as an apprentice in 1968. And the rest, they say, is history, with Ian hanging up his tools at Laser Plumbing Tauranga Central next week.
